Dennis Black Magic has been convicted of raping eight women. This film is about how he was able to keep doing it for as long as he did, and about the people around him who did well out of it.
The method was simple and it worked for years. He offered women photoshoots for Playboy. Playboy is the part that made it work, because it gave him something to say on the phone that sounded legitimate and gave the women a reason to get in the car. From there he moved them into prostitution and pornography.
His business partner was Joyce De Troch. The case I make in this film is that she knew, and I go through what she did and when she did it. There is also Pierre Woodman, who profited from the operation and was made its chief executive.
Some of the detail is hard going. He raped a cancer survivor. After he was arrested and then released, they hired his prison guard. There was one woman who tried to protect the girls coming through, and I have given her account the time it deserves.
The question I end on is whether this was a run of crimes by one man or a trafficking operation with a structure and a payroll. Once you have seen how the recruitment and the money worked, I think the answer is fairly clear.
