I had already covered the FacialAbuse investigation with Paul Mulholland, who spent two years on it. This is the other half of that. Not the journalist this time, the person it happened to.
Felicity is careful about the distinction everybody gets stuck on, which is whether what is on those tapes is abuse or acting. She was in the room. She describes the pre-shoot interview and what it is actually for. She describes being choked without having agreed to it, being told to do things or not get paid, and being made to vomit, which the company treats as a selling point rather than a problem.
She also covers the parts around the edges that people do not think about. Whether the agent who booked her was even real. What happened after the shoot was over. Why she went back a second time, which is the question everyone wants to ask and hardly anybody asks kindly. What happened when she spoke publicly and Duke came after her for it.
We get into consent in extreme pornography, which is where all of this actually sits, and into how much of what she describes is normal in the industry rather than exceptional. Her answer on that is not a comforting one.
This is a long interview and I have left it long, because what she is describing was not brief either.
